Many women
I’ve met
now barely a blur
some I can’t remember
some just passed by
some loved and ran
some I ran away from
I can’t think of any
who significantly
stand out in my mind
though I always
wanted a soulmate
never had
even a love
of my life
maybe I’ll have one
in the coming afterlife.

He watched her combing her hair
and putting on her makeup.
His heart swelled with love for
her, and he loved watching her
doing the simplest things.
He thought a quiet prayer to God,
praying she’d be with him for
the rest of his life and even in
the next life, death not doing
them apart.
His prayer must have worked.
When they were both 87, they
died together of natural causes.
Perhaps they’re both together
young again and holding hands
in the eternal bliss of an afterlife.

He was just a teenage kid.
She was his first girlfriend.
Initially, everything was more
than wonderful.
He’d found the love of his life.
He’d found a happiness
beyond what he thought possible.
He loved her so much he said
he’d die a hundred times for her.
He asked her to marry him
when they got older.
She happily agreed and gave
him a long, meaningful kiss.
A year later, his future wife
cheated on him, destroying
their true teenage love.
Unable to live without the
girl he pledged his forever
love to, whom he vowed to
marry, he put his father’s
pistol to his head and
pulled the trigger, dead forever,
on the night his ex-girlfriend had
changed her mind and decided
to call him the next day, unaware
that it was too late … too late,
his death, her fate.

Bob Boyd

On an ordinary day on Chestnut street,
he saw a perpendicular person,
translucent and glittering,
on the other side of the street.

He looked away, frightened by the
bizarre and scary sight, hoping
it wouldn’t come after him on
that ordinary day.

He caught some luck when he
took another peek at the
perpendicular, translucent and
glittering person.

That unexplainable and weird
being had vanished, and he
wondered if it was time to
change his meds.

The older i grow
the more people
i know
and know of
in the afterlife

if i keep on living
i’ll know
and know of
more people
on the other side

than on this
living side of life
that is living
in bodies

i’ll know
more of those
living in spirits
the disembodied

and i
look forward
to leaving
this old body
and joining
them

reborn and renewed
in the reunion
of the dead

Dating was easier in the past
less choices
people valued more
than with apps
and many choices
and disposal people

in the past
face to face
friends of friends
blind dates
fix ups
parties
various events

no catfishing
no fake photos
more respectful
less criticisms
realistic expectations
less $$$ emphasis
easier decisions
easier to find love

She was being interviewed about a book
she wrote while she was grieving.

Everybody felt so sad for her because
her husband had been murdered

by whom no one really knew, except
months later when the police arrested her.

She seemed too nice and respectable
to be capable of murdering anyone.

Her motive was the millions she’d inherit
if her husband were dead.

But still she seemed too nice and respectable,
yet she was guilty and now in prison for life.

Perhaps behind her nice and respectable
persona, lurked a well hidden psychopath.

An eagle that rules the skis
has no predators,

except if it gets too old, too sick,
or too injured to fly,

except if it’s a baby eagle
and gets nabbed by a hawk.

I’d like to have no predators
like an eagle.

instead of all the potential predators
I have as a human

in forests and in jungles,
in streets and in wars

and even in seas.

She was beautiful and seemed
incredibly nice as if she had a perfect life.

But, sadly, then she said she’d just spent
some time in a hospital for depression.

It seemed a sacrilege that she’d been afflicted
with depression so bad it put her in a hospital.

How i hated even the thought of her having
to suffer with depression that serious.

I hope she found treatments at the hospital
to make her condition easier to endure.

In a children’s hospital
has terminal cancer
not long left to live
miraculously she’s happy
the nurses and doctors
cannot understand it
wonder if she really
does not understand
that she is terminal
she knows she is dying
not worried about it
an angel returning to
her true home in heaven.

Born into a wealthy family
attended the best schools
his future shining bright
fell completely in love
with the wrong woman
she left him for another
shattered his young heart
never got over love lost
hung himself to death
at Harvard University
in his dorm room.

She was a famous actress once,
in the 1800s and 1900s,

considered one of the most
beautiful of her era.

Rich and famous men wanted
to be with her.

She received many awards for her
stellar acting skills.

Now hardly anybody knows
anything about her,

just old bones in the ground.

I used to occasionally write love poems
to no one in particular

no women i know
no women i knew
maybe a mystery woman
i would have liked to have known

maybe my heart was hungering
for that never found ideal love

whatever the reason
i stopped writing love poems
some time ago

maybe my T got too low.

After watching YouTube videos
of mountain goats
particularly the Alpine Ibex
i’m amazed at how they
can climb near vertical
mountain slopes
something few animals can do

i watch them and i fear they will fall
but they are too sure footed
and climb those slopes with ease

i’m blow away by how nature
has endowed them with that skill
and watching them scale those
mountain slopes is such a thrill
