\nstates of consciousness.
\n25 and a full blown seeker,
\nI get initiated into a
\nmeditation method
\nin a room in Cambridge, Mass
\nnot far from Radcliffe
\nand Harvard U.<\/p>\n
An elaborate ceremony,
\nan altar and incense burning,
\nthe initiator a woman chanting.
\nI get a sacred Hindu mantra.
\nI begin to mentally repeat it<\/p>\n
A minute later, I hear a
\nsoft snapping sound in the
\ncenter of my forehead,
\nmaybe where the third eye
\nis said to be, maybe not.<\/p>\n
My consciousness expands
\nand its flooded with
\nindescribable bliss
\nbeyond anything
\nI\u2019d ever imagined. <\/p>\n
I walk out of the
\nmeditation room high and
\nfeeling like a Hindu monk
\nin a flowing robe, feeling like
\nI\u2019d come home, feeling like
\nI\u2019d been a Hindu monk
\nin a former life.<\/p>\n
