I have been to Rag Rock in Woburn, Mass
\nAs a child I found an arrowhead there.
\nKnew little of its Native American origins.
\nI\u2019d heard Native Americans lived there once.
\nI wish I had visited it as an adult and
\nRead signs there proclaiming its history.
\nAlthough it would have made me sad
\nIf the former inhabitants and their culture
\nWere driven out of there and possibly
\nHad broken treaties and their own tears.
\nAs a child I had no idea of their history
\nNor of how Native Americans were treated.
\nAll I knew was they were called indians
\nAnd were the bad guys in cowboy and
\nIndians movies and TV shows. Sad how
\nDistorted it all was, and maybe it\u2019s
\nBetter I didn\u2019t visit Rag Rock as an adult
\nIt might have made me sad and angry.<\/p>\n
