First time I heard the saying, the
\nheart knows what it wants. I liked
\nit. It sounded mystically romantic
\nto me.<\/p>\n
As if the heart was a separate entity
\ncapable of making romantic choices
\nsuperior to the mind\u2019s wants<\/p>\n
But, alas, the heart may know what
\nit wants, but as many relationships
\nbear out,<\/p>\n
what the heart wants may not
\nalways be good for a person\u2019s
\npeace of mind.<\/p>\n
In some cases not good for a
\nperson\u2019s life. <\/p>\n
My heart has led me astray a number
\nof times causing me to not listen to
\nmy mind and make less than ideal
\nchoices. <\/p>\n
I recall my heart wanting a beautiful
\nblonde haired women with a sweet
\nSouthern accent, who lived far away
\nfrom me<\/p>\n
and leaving a good job and moving
\nhundreds of miles away to be with her<\/p>\n
because my heart wanted true love
\nmore than a job.<\/p>\n
And my heart told me I could always
\nfind another job, and true love was
\nmore important, and you don\u2019t get
\nopportunities for real love as often
\nas you can find a job.<\/p>\n
In the end the blonde haired
\nSouthern beauty stole money out
\nof my ATM machine and was<\/p>\n
writing romantic letters to some
\nmarried guy, and my heart had
\nled me astray. <\/p>\n
And what my heart had wanted
\nkind of made a fool out of me.<\/p>\n
Perhaps for you what your heart
\nwanted worked out, but maybe you
\nhave a smarter heart than I
\ndo. <\/p>\n
And, probably, more accurately,
\nbetter intuition about matters
\nconcerning the heart. <\/p>\n
