I remember the first time I saw her
\nwhen she was just out of high school.
\nShe was so beautiful and so charming
\nand so much fun.
\nShe had a perfect body many women
\nwould loved to have been blessed with.
\nHer father was a pharmacist.
\nHer family had more money than most.<\/p>\n
About a year after I met her
\nher life began to go to pieces.
\nToo much alcohol and drugs.
\nRumors of sexual promiscuity.
\nA drunken drug-induced threesome
\nwith two guys when threesome were
\nstill shameful and considered slutty.
\nAnd the two guys bragged about
\n\u201cdoing her,\u201d so crass.
\nShe let her once perfect body go
\nto waste, lost its sex appeal.<\/p>\n
Because she had been adopted, I
\nwondered if it was a genetic thing.
\nPerhaps a mother with similar
\nbehaviors that led to her mother
\nlosing custody of her.
\nAnd I believe in the old saying that
\nsometimes the apple doesn\u2019t fall
\nfar from the tree.
\nBut thank God not always.<\/p>\n
Of course, she could have lost her
\nway for many other reasons<\/p>\n
but whatever the reason she did,
\nI was saddened to see a woman who
\nhad so many advantages fall into
\nsuch destructive circumstances. <\/p>\n
And I hope somehow she eventually
\nrose out of them.<\/p>\n
But I have an awful feeling that she
\nnever did.<\/p>\n
