I like the stories about animals escaping slaughterhouses.
\nThey’re rare. You don\u2019t read about them in the news often.
\nBut when I read of them, it\u2019s thrilling to me.
\nMaybe I identify with them, the rebel in me.
\nMaybe I like the idea of a life self-saved.
\nBy self-saved I mean, when the animal usually
\nfinds refuge in a benevolent pro animal organization.
\nThey capture the escapee and give it a good life.
\nI hate it when the animal is captured and slaughtered.
\nI feel even slaughterhouses should spare them,
\nlike awarding a soldier a medal for exceptional bravery.
\nBut maybe the best escapes are when the animal
\nescapees and are never found.
\nPerhaps that is the greatest escape for them,
\nto never be held captive anywhere again.<\/p>\n
