Alas, where have those missed opportunities
\nwith the right women taken wing to?<\/p>\n
Why could I not have been wiser and
\nhave intuited the right ones in my youth
\nand even in older ages?<\/p>\n
Maybe that pretty one who kept looking at
\nme in that store next to our high school
\nwhen I was too dumb, too inexperienced,
\nto see she was into me.<\/p>\n
Maybe she could have been the right one,
\nthe lifetime love, I\u2019d still be with today.<\/p>\n
Perhaps that beautiful one who
\nwas into me that I didn\u2019t know about
\ntill a friend of hers told me she was years later,
\ntoo late, when she was married to another.<\/p>\n
Lord, how I wish like with a butterfly net
\nI could have netted one of those
\nmissed opportunities and been with her
\nfor all my life.<\/p>\n
But, woe upon woes, I never did.
\nI only netted, or got netted by \u2026
\nthe wrong ones.<\/p>\n
