Like many people who have lived
\nlong lives, he\u2019s alone near the end of his.
\nIt\u2019s kind of the way he wanted it,
\npeace in his shrinking years.
\nAt least he\u2019s still independent
\nnot in assisted living or a nursing home.
\nHe looks forward to his death
\nfrom a world he no longer fits into.
\nHe longs to join the many he knew,
