She told him
she was leaving him
he said okay fine.
she got mad at him
for not protesting
she expected begging
or at least attempts
to talk her out of leaving
because of his indifference
she almost changed her mind
but packed her bags
and left him anyway
until a month later when
she called him and said
why don’t we make up
and get back together
he said no way I don’t
turn back the clock or make
the same mistake twice.
