Rag Rock in Woburn, Mass and Native Americans

I have been to Rag Rock in Woburn, Mass
As a child I found an arrowhead there.
Knew little of its Native American origins.
I’d heard Native Americans lived there once.
I wish I had visited it as an adult and
Read signs there proclaiming its history.
Although it would have made me sad
If the former inhabitants and their culture
Were driven out of there and possibly
Had broken treaties and their own tears.
As a child I had no idea of their history
Nor of how Native Americans were treated.
All I knew was they were called indians
And were the bad guys in cowboy and
Indians movies and TV shows. Sad how
Distorted it all was, and maybe it’s
Better I didn’t visit Rag Rock as an adult
It might have made me sad and angry.

Good Twins Who Went Bad in Massachusetts

The teenage twins had been nice,
happy guys, always a smile, always fun
when they lived in the small city
of Woburn, Massachusetts where
I lived too.

Their family moved to a larger city,
Arlington, Massachusetts.

And the twins morphed into something
unimagined, unbelievable.

I and a friend met them a year later
in Arlington, and they had hardened.

They spoke of gang fighting, kicking
ass and using high kicks to win fights
by kicking guys in their heads.

They even looked different, like
hardcore hoodlums with hard eyes.

On the night we were with them
in Arlington, they invited us to a
gang war with some preppy
guys

which started just as we wisely
hightailed it back to Woburn.

I will never forget how a mere
move to another city changed
those twins for the worst.

And thinking about them, I
wonder if they ever changed
back to the nice guys they
were, or did some crazy
criminal things and went
to jail for years or for life.

I Don’t Understand Why a Loving God Would Allow These Things in This World

Babies born disabled physically or mentally.
Babies born with cancer and other life threatening diseases.
Children raped, sex trafficked, and murdered.
Children beaten to death by parents and sometimes by others.
Children dying of all manner of things and never getting a chance to live full lives.
Young people dying of all manner of things, even cancer now, just when they are starting their lives.
Serial killers, murderers, rapists, pedophiles, evil people.
People born predisposed to severe mental health conditions.
Men who physically abuse or murder their girlfriends or wives.
People predisposed to be incurable, insufferable jerks.
Evil people who write or say kill yourself to others.
People who dream of seeing politicians killed and encourage it.
And true love that turns out to be untrue and wrecks the fairy tale versions.

These are most of the things that bother me about this life, and, if a loving God exists, as opposed to an impersonal God devoid of love, or no God, I cannot understand how these terrible things are allowed to happen by a loving God.

On a lighter note, if when I die I could run the universe for even a week, as a temp Divinity, I’ll abolish those blights upon *humankind and the suffering they cause so many.

I will transform ice cream, chocolate, cookies and pastries
into super foods that will guarantee perfect mental and physical health, freedom from diseases, and long fulfilling lifespans.

And nobody will have to worry about putting on too much weight from eating those sweet health foods.

I will end wars forever, and people will be gentle instead of violent or abrasive.

Broken hearts will never happen.

Everybody will be born beautiful and equally intelligent with IQs through the roof.

Everyone will be loving and compassionate and wake up happy every morning.

And as a blue light special bonus, I’ll ironclad guarantee everyone will find their soulmates no later than age 18. And I’ll damn sure tweak those fairy tale ever afters to really be ever afters forever.

So if you are alive when I die and those things happen, you’re welcome, Kemosabe

* Saw a YouTube video where a woman corrected a man for saying mankind instead of humankind, and the guy who made the video was annoyed at the woman for saying that.

But I agree with her and though I’m not about wokery and PC, I feel humankind is more inclusive and fairer to women. And I’ll bet the guy who got annoyed at humankind wouldn’t have liked it if all of us were described as womankind.

Stars Blowing Around and a Guy Really Wanting to See a Woman Tonight

A guy in a song on YouTube is singing about stars blowing around
and how he’d really like to see this woman tonight.

And I’m thinking maybe I shouldn’t be listening to such songs because
they get me thinking too much about that feeling the guy is having

that need, that desire to see that woman, the joy, the love he is feeling.
And I vicariously start feeling and remember how wondrous such feelings are.

And momentarily I pine a bit for days in the past when I was that guy
really wanting to see a woman I loved on a moonlit, starry night.

But I don’t let myself get attached too much to those romantic feelings,
those romantic memories. I let them go and repress the nearly

irrepressible romantic in me that occasionally rises up from my heart
despite my attempts to ignore those feelings at an age and monklike

existence when I feel I should be beyond such fanciful, silly thoughts
and completely devoid of and impervious to them.

But, alas, such is not the case, and at least a less romantic song is
playing now where a guy is singing about werewolves in London.

And the werewolves have chased away my romantic feelings
and probably frightened away those stars that were blowing around in the other song.

The 1967 Patterson Gimlin Film of Bigfoot Claimed to be Authentic

I saw the Patterson Gimlin film of an alleged Bigfoot walking years ago.
To me, it seemed like a fake, like a guy in a modified gorilla suit.
Yet there are creditable people, even ones with scientific backgrounds who are convinced the film is legitimate.
And if you learn about their credentials and their scientific professions, they seem like intelligent, highly educated people who would know what they are talking about.

But I stand by my initial belief when I first saw that Bigfoot film, and still believe it is an obvious hoax, a guy in a modified gorilla suit.
And I have to wonder why if two people could capture a film of Bigfoot walking in a forest back in 1967, surely others would have captured films of Bigfoot by now. So bunk I say.

You may believe the film is 100% authentic. If so, I hope you are right.
I’d like a film of Bigfoot to be legitimate, proof of his existence.

Creatures That Pop in and Out of Dimensions

Crazy as it may seem to you,
I’ve come to believe there might
be creatures that pop in and out
of dimensions.

This is by no means an original
idea. There are physicists who
claim there are other dimensions,
for example. There are far wiser
people than me who claim there
are creatures in other dimensions.

Creatures that can move in and
out of dimensions would explain
the thousands and thousands of
alleged sightings of cryptids like
Bigfoot and UFO sightings where
UFOs appear and disappear.

Even though the theory about
interdimensional creatures may
be only bunk, consider how there
must have been a time when few
would believe one day you could
hear music coming out of a box.

And you may or may not have
been around when seeing and
talking to someone through a
screen was only a sci fi thing,
yet now we do it easily with
computers.

My point is what can seem crazy
or entirely implausible, can one
day be proved factual.

And if there are creatures that can
pop in and out of dimensions, pray
none of them are malevolent.

Edgar Casey, Said to be a Psychic

claimed some people don’t have souls
maybe you believe that I don’t

but I’m not sure if a soul is different
from a person’s consciousness

and I’m not sure if people really have souls
for example, have you ever seen your soul
and if you are reading this now
you are experiencing a level of your consciousness

I can’t recall sages of the east talking about souls
but I do recall them talking about a person consciousness
that could be elevated by spiritual work
to higher states of consciousness
but I never heard them talking about higher states of soul

and it just occurred to me that if all of us are soulless
possessing consciousness instead
in a way Edgar Casey was half right

Something Dark and Evil

Hunting ghosts in an old abandoned hotel,
Got the feeling things weren’t going to go well.

When my partner Jimmy Moore opened a door,
He said he saw a ghost crawling on the floor.

He walked into the room and I heard him yell.
He sounded as if he’d been pulled into hell.

I searched the room and found not a trace of Jim
And had no idea of what had happened to him.

Then I saw something scary next to a wall.
Jimmy had become a ghost starting to crawl.

I ran the hell out of that eerie hotel,
Got sick in my head that night, never got well.

The police did a search and never found Jim
But I know something dark and evil got him.

Margaret Wilson, 1668-1685, Executed by Drowning for Her Unwavering Faith

Only 17-years-old and opposed to demands that her homeland of Scotland bend its knee religiously to the Church of England, convert to its beliefs and rules, and denounce its Presbyterian faith and beliefs.

Margaret was one of the resisters called Covenanters who refused to abandoned their Presbyterian faith and were persecuted and put to death for their resistance.

She helped and hid renegade Presbyterian preachers escape the capture of those who hunted and executed them.

In February 1685, Margaret was captured and imprisoned in “The Thieves Hole” for 2 months where the worst prisoners were jailed.

Transferred to another prison, she was tormented relentlessly to convert to the Church of England but adamantly refused to.

After which, she was sentenced to be flogged in the streets and executed.

On the day of her execution, she was tied to a stake hammered in the bed of a stream that the ocean tide flowed into above 50 feet.

And Margaret was told if she renounced her faith before the tide rolled in and drowned her to death she would be freed.

But Margaret refused to abandon her faith.

As the tide rushed in covering Margaret up to the waist, Margaret shouted, Psalm 25: 1-2: “To you O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in you; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me. ”

And as the tide buried her to death in its surging, suffocating waters, Margaret died a martyr for her faith and for her Lord.

Now you have read the true story of a courageous young woman, whose bravery and martyrdom is unknown by most, lost in the ever fleeting past.

I marvel at her bravery and her unwavering faith and principles in the face of an awful, underserved death.

An unholy execution administered by monstrous fanatics masquerading as pious avengers doing the Lord’s work, more like devils ruled by the sword of Satan instead of the love and grace of God.

Another Person Murdered

Another person murdered in some faraway country
It’s kind of sad, but it’s not you.

Another person murdered in the city you live in.
It’s a little sadder, but it’s not you.

Murders happen every day, a thousand daily
all over the world.

It’s terribly sad that though you and I are
not one of the murdered – so far – that we live
in a homicidal world where anyone could be
murdered on any given day intentionally or
randomly.

Even though murders only happen to other
people except you or me, unlike those
you’s or me’s who are buried six feet under
in cemeteries, one day you and me, like
them, could be another of the daily over
1,000 statistics.

Sure it seems doubtful, but as alluded to
in the previous paragraph, it probably seemed
doubtful, and probably impossible,
to all those murdered and dead in their graves.

The Fallacy of Justice for All

I always liked the idea of Justice for All.
It had a right and true ring to it.
But early on, or later on, I learned
the fallacy of it.

Pray you have God and his angels
in your corner if you go to court as
a poor person wrongly accused by
a rich person with a team of high
dollar slick lawyers.

Odds are things won’t end well for you,
and justice for all will not be for you.

But you already know this and probably
have seen it acted out many times in the news.
And you know that often you get the
justice you can afford.

And if you’re rich enough to hire a team
of the best lawyers money can buy,
you might be able to get away with murder
or, at the least, a far lighter sentence than
a less monied man or woman.

I like the idea of justice for all
but it’s just not true.

The Fascination with Bigfoot, the Seeming Impossibility of His Existence

I once read there are over 75,000 alleged sightings of Bigfoot.
That begs the question: could all these people be liars?
That begs the question: could all these people be mistaken?
If you look deeply enough into this Bigfoot fascination
you will find some scientists and many people with
impressive credentials who believe that Bigfoot exists.
I’ve always believed all the Bigfoot talk was nonsense,
pranks and foolishness that only fools would believe.
But after listening to various accounts by credible people
I’m open to the idea that Bigfoot may be real.
He may be real, in my opinion and that of others,
if Bigfoot is interdimensional, which would explain
why after all the alleged sightings no definitive proof exists
since he can appear and disappear from this worldly dimensional.

An Elderly Woman and the Treasures Within

She’s elegance personified.
She’s beauty and grace embodied.
But you cannot see these qualities.
You won’t care to find them.
All you will see is an old woman.
To you only like a blank page.
Her outer beauty has fled.
Her body has lost its youthful allure.
She no longer gets all the stares
Everywhere she goes
Of men who want to be with her.
But the elegance, the beauty and
the grace remain.
The treasures still lie within.

The Tomb of Jesus Christ in Shingo, Japan

According to the legend in Shingo, Japan,
when Jesus was 21 he visited Japan to
“pursue knowledge of Divinity for 12 years.”

At age 33, he traveled back to Judea to start
his mission, but the people in Judea did not
accept him as the Son of God, and decided
to crucify him.

Jesus brother, named Isukiri, took Jesus’s
place on the cross and was crucified while
Jesus escaped back to Japan and settled
there in Shingo and had 3 children with
a Japanese woman he married called
Miyuko.

Until his death at 106, he shared wisdom
and kindness with the village people, though
he was not said to have performed any
miracles there.

He is claimed to be buried in Shingo in a tomb
under a mound embedded with a large wooden cross
standing about 6 feet high.

The burial site is considered a shrine that
pilgrims visit and report feeling a profound
sense of peace there.

In Memory of the Singer Paul Davis

Looked up Paul Davis today on the Internet.
Saw he passed away at age 60 in his hometown,
Meridian, Mississippi, of a heart attack in 2008.
Though I see death as the awakening of a lifetime
and look forward to my passing,
it saddens me that this singer has left us forever.
It depresses me to see another rock icon of my
generation is gone, and I will always love
and never tire of, these two hit songs by him:

I go Crazy and Cool Night.

RIP Paul Davis.

I hope you are singing
great songs in an afterlife heaven.
And though I didn’t know you,
it grieves me that you are gone.

A Single Sentence Can Be the Death Knell of a Relationship

Maybe you are more tolerant
and forgiving than I am
When it comes to insulting words
by someone you love, words that
sometimes can be the death knell
of a romantic relationship
or even a marriage.

I’ve never been one to suffer abuse,
Suffered too much of it in my youth,
Which served me well later in life
When others tried to walk on me.

I once had a wife, who disrespectfully
and undeservedly, said to me,
“Use your fucking head.”

Unknown to her at that time,
despite my reacting angrily to her
undeserved, disrespectful words,
that sentence was the death knell of
our dying marriage that was
on life support during that time.

Though I was disappointed in her
for valid reasons, never would
I have talked to her so disrespectfully.

And with that single use your fucking head
sentence she lost my love and the
marriage forever.

Worst Bad Luck of the Draw Relationships

Relationship usually begin joyously
Everything wonderful, both on best behavior
But as the love becomes timeworn
Sometimes darkness seeps in
And evil starts to happen
Cycles of physical abuse
Rounds of cruel torments
Victims locked in bad relationships
Outcomes they didn’t imagine
When they first got involved
Like bad luck of the draw
Which tragically sometimes
Ends in never imagined matricides
By the murdered spouses
Death the worst bad luck of the draw

Highs of Falling in Love With a Woman

You become incredibly high on love
when you first fall in love with her,
better than a drug, the greatest addiction.
She becomes more and more beautiful
even if you didn’t initially find her attractive
or thought she wasn’t your type.
You are constantly thinking about her.
Your mind always imbued with the joy of
remembering the endearing things she says.
Your feelings for her keep growing uncontrollably.
Your heart aches when you’re away from her.
Eventually the highs wear off though the love endures.
Were that the highs never died and lasted forever

The Amazing Duck Donut Shop on Pisgah Church Road in Greensboro, NC

I’m not much for donuts.
Ice cream is my thing.
Haagen Dazs my only
thing when it comes
to my favorite.

But after tasting a
Duck Donut Shop
plain donut out of
curiosity, I’m anxious
to go back there and
taste one of their
donut sundaes.

And I was surprised
to see they have a
donut ice cream
sandwich too and
a donut topped
milk shake.

This is not a promotion.
It’s a testimony about
how good I found
Duck Donuts to be.

And the name
Duck Donuts is
so appealing to me.

If you go there,
don’t say I sent you,
for they won’t know me.

And, frankly, I don’t
care if you ever go to
a Duck Donut Shop.

But I can say this;
it will be your loss
and you will miss out
on a delightful experience
in a unique donut shop.

I’m Entranced by This Polynesian Dance

Somehow a video with Polynesian dancing appeared on my YouTube page.
I clicked on the video and saw the dancing as if with new eyes.
I’d seen this kind of dancing many years ago.
But it never really impressed me like it does now.
I’m not meaning the common hula.
I’m meaning something that to me is more elegant and graceful.
I’m meaning an elegance in dancing that entranced me and
made me a admirer of this dancing that amazes and enchants me,
like the dancing in this YouTube video, beauty and elegance in the exotic and graceful hand movements and dance steps.

Enchanting!
