Ikkyu Why Did You Have To ….

get my attention with this poem of yours:

Beneath the skin of
The one we fondle today,
There is a skeleton,
Propping up the flesh.

Ikkyu

Why couldn’t you have just written something
less graphic, less disturbing?

You could have written something less drastic, like
the woman you are fondling today will be dead someday.

That, though still disturbing, would have been more palatable,
gone down easier.

Now if I ever fondle a woman again, your buzzkill poem
will at some point pop into my mind
and wreck the illusion that I’ll be holding her forever.

Besides, you were supposed to be a freakin’ monk,
not some playboy writing about fondling women.

Ikkyu, if you hadn’t been a monk, I’d say damn you,
but I can’t afford any more bad karma in this life.

So in regard to your disturbing poem I’ll just say,
Ikkyu, why did you have to?

The Neurotic Uncertainties With Falling in Love

Jesus! I can’t reach her on the phone!
Is she avoiding me?
This is making me crazy wondering
if she will stay or leave.
And she seemed a little cold
last time I saw her.
Is it over before it began?
God Almighty the uncertainties
are giving me a neurosis.
Just when I’ve started falling for her
she might be running away from me.
Was I moving too fast?
Was she just in this to hook me
and split?
She seems so kind and nice,
but is she like that,
win a guy’s heart and run.
Is she the kind of woman
that nice guys finish
last with?
Jesus! The suspense
is driving me crazy!
I need to find a way
to calm down and
not get so worked up
over this.
Ring. Ring.
Hello?
I’d love to. I’ll be right over.
Whew! Thank God! It’s all good.
I’ll buy some flowers
to bring to her.

Remote Viewing

The first time I heard of remote viewing
I imagined a remote viewer seeing a scene from a
distance just like I would see it in front of me.

From what I’d read about remote viewing, it seemed
that was a reality.

Later when I read and heard more about it,
it appeared the viewing was hazy and unclear.

And now I feel if remote viewing was as effective
as it was initially touted to be,
I’d be hearing about it all over the news.

Of course, I could be mistaken. Maybe some
remote viewers see as clearly as I
see an object in front of me,
but I doubt it.

Age Is Just a Number You Say

I have often heard the expression,
age is just a number
said by people who are not old.

Say that to the old person who
heard himself or herself grunt for the first time
when she or he got old and bent over
to pick up something.

Say that to the old person who for the
first time struggled to get up from the floor
when she or he got old.

Say that to the old person
when aging compromises her or his
balance and depth perception
and a fall can be deadly.

Say that to the old person who
fell and broke her or his hip
when she or he got old.

Say that to the old person who
for the first time in her or his
life began having medical problems.

Say that to the old person
who got dementia when she
or he got old.

Say that to the old person
who lost her of his ability
to live independently and
is in a nursing home.

But say that to me because
despite the aforementioned
irrefutable facts,
I’m still a little in denial.

The Eighth Deadly Sin

Even if I had been brainwashed into being a terrorist,
the disputed claim of being rewarded with 72 virgins
wouldn’t be sufficient for me to slaughter innocent people.

“What? Would you want more virgins,” you might ask?

“No. Not even a single virgin.”

I’ve never understood the lust for virgins often by men
who are far from virginal themselves.

Is it me, or is that hypocrisy?

And, what about female terrorists? I’ve never heard
of them being rewarded with 72 male virgins.

Where’s the equality, the inclusion?

And even if I were a terrorist and rewarded with 72 experienced women, what man living or dead could keep up with them?

Plus, the audacity of seeing women as sexual commodities,
by men who owe their lives to women, and using them
as if they were insignificant playthings and merely rewards,
in my opinion that should be made number eight on the list of the seven deadly sins.

Montana Bigfoot Researcher Has Proof of Bigfoot’s Existence

I would really like to see proof of Bigfoot’s existence.
But when a Montana Bigfoot Research says his proof is
hair and nail clippings from Bigfoot,
it’s just not enough for me.

Now maybe there is a way to scientifically validate
his findings, but I kind of doubt the accuracy of
such an experimental attempt.

I’d be more impressed with a bona fide Bigfoot cadaver.
But despite thousands of alleged Bigfoot sightings,
no one has produced a cadaver, which could lead
many people to believe Bigfoot is no more real
than a unicorn and they may be right.

As for me, the only way I can imagine Bigfoot
being legit is if he’s interdimensional, which
could explain why no cadaver has ever been
presented as proof of his existence.

fish don’t bark or jump up on tables and counters

i would like to have a dog
for a pet
instead i have fish
a dog could bark and disturb
other tenants in the
apartment house i live in

and i would have to spend the
rest of my life
in servitude to a dog
as his personal
pooper scooper

i would like to have a cat
for a pet
instead i have fish
i hate when cats
jump up on counters
and dinner tables
especially since those
are places food is
prepared and eaten

supposedly there are
ways to keep cats off
counters and tables
and i’ve seen the methods
on the Internet
but i don’t believe they
are 100% effective

so i stick with keeping
fish for pets
because they don’t bark
and disturb neighbors
or jump up on
counters and tables

he dreamed of being a rockstar

he wanted the glory and the groupies
the excitement and the travel
the attention and the fun
making awesome music
singing like a celebrated star
living large with tons of money
the only problem was
he couldn’t sing
and he lacked the
discipline to learn
how to play a
musical instrument
best he could do
was an air guitar
and there’s no glory
fanfare or
money in that
but damn he played
the best air guitar
I ever heard

An Ant Afterlife

Maybe it’s a minor thing.
Maybe it’s a foolish thing.
But I don’t like the idea
of ants or any lifeforms
just dying and ending
forever.

But, it could be my
thoughts on this matter
are moot because maybe
even humans die and
are ended forever.

Though after reading and
listening to many NDE’s
(Near death experiences)
I find human life ending at
death implausible and see
death as a continuation
in the afterlife.

And maybe we all come
back to this life as the
Hindus and others claim.

And if reincarnation is
factual, it may be that
even when ants die, they
incarnate to higher life
forms.

I like the thought of that.
An equality for all sentient
entities.

I’ve read some believe even
insentient things reincarnate
into sentient life forms and
eventually reach total
liberation.

I like the thought of that
even more.

An Article About Why 18 Reasons Women Over 50 No Longer Want a Relationship

When I saw the headline, the first thing I thought was
is this what we’ve come to?

Has love been drained out of the hearts of women over
50?

Have their passions dried up completely?

Has our culture come to love no longer relevant to women who are still relatively young?

However like myself and other men, particularly the MGTOW men,
(Men going their own way without women), I can understand going solo after dealing with too many disappointments in love.

I can understand giving up on relationships when the fairy tales do not come true.

But I suspect many or most of these women will feel the pangs of loneliness, and some or many will be in relationships again.

old men who want wives to take care of them

when he was a younger man he read about old men
who wanted wives to take care of them

he thought how selfish that was to want a woman
as a caregiver instead of as a wife to love and be grateful for

now that he’s an old man he still feels the same way
and would never want to burden a girlfriend or a wife
with having to take care of him

he’d rather be alone than subject a woman to be little more than hired help

he’d rather be alone than put a woman through the
agonies and the stresses of being a caregiver wife

and all his life he’s worked out and taken care of himself
with the hope he never becomes so debilitated

that he needs to be taken care of and lose
his lifelong freedom and independence

a surprising and delightful phone from three beautiful teenage girls call when he was a teenager

three beautiful teenage girls called on on the phone on
what could have been a fortuitous day

he was delightfully surprised by the unexpected telephone attention

and he’d always been a sucker for aggressive woman he was attracted to
because it took him by surprised and amazed him
when they flirted with him or made the first moves

on the phone that day, one of them, a beautiful red hair girl, said he had danced with her

kidding around he said you were lucky

perfectly one upping his wiseass kidding
she said no you were the lucky one

he and the girls laughed at her witty repartee

looking back he wishes he had been smarter then
and said actually you are right

and I regret I didn’t talk to you when we danced
you looked so beautiful I became too blown away

by your beauty to speak to you and I honestly
did feel lucky to have danced with you

now as an old man he wishes he could rewind his life
to back then and say the things he should have

and he wonders what would have happened and
if she would have been the one he would have
spent the rest of his life with

and oh how beautiful she looked in all her
red-haired green-eyed glory when he
was so lucky to have danced with her

Holy Moly Warlock Werewolves

I saw three warlock werewolves
in downtown London
as real as you and me
and I knew they’d escaped
those full moons restrictions and
morphed into full time werewolves
liberated from the confines of
dark nights and lunar cycles
I speculated they must have
used their magic wand spells
to lift the moon made restriction
and I wondered what they were
doing in downtown London
then things got more surreal
when I saw a poster for a
werewolf warlock convention
and I woke up from what was
only a lucid werewolves dream

surprising compliments about his looks

he remembers being called handsome
at age seventy seven and how it
surprised him

because at that age a guy doesn’t expect
that kind of attention

especially because he never thought about
himself as handsome

and was always surprised when a woman said that
about him or he heard about a woman who said that

he never thought he was handsome
like some guys who are obsessed with their looks

he remembers how in the philippines a woman
said he looked like richard gere

and how in his thirties people told him
he looked like clint eastwood

to this day he still has trouble believing
those comparisons

and in a way wishes he had been a little
conceited like some guys are

and been bolder and more confident
in approaching women

but God knows he had more than enough
women in his life

though his initial dream of finding the right one
in high school and being married to her forever

never happened

I’m Relating a True Account – This Poem is Not Fiction

One night after she turned out her bedroom lights and went to bed
A shadowy nonhuman hulk appeared at the door of her bedroom.
It had no tangible flesh and bone substance.
A dark malevolent form, no legs, no arms, no head, no face,
It silently summoned her attention; she could not resist its bidding.
It paralyzed her body, her will too weakened to move or flee.
A glowing white cross manifested upon her bedroom wall.
A voice inside her said repeat the Lord’s prayer over and over out loud.
The shadowy, nonhuman hulk drew nearer, more menacingly.
Terrified, she kept repeating Our Father …. Our Father …. Our Father ….
The horrifying dark form gradually dissolved into nothingness;
The glowing cross turned in upon itself and melted away.
She telepathically heard the assurance she was safe always;
Never more to be tormented by that monstrous, intangible hulk.
All her previous cares evaporated in that miraculous moment;
Whereupon her life became more carefree, more liberated.
And her name is Linda Moulton Howe.

a brief prayer

he sits at his computer writing this
poem spiritual energy streaming into his head

he hasn’t needed to meditate in decades
the energy always streams upward in him
as if his existence is a continuous meditation

his spiritual work now is comprised of
briefly praying for all the people in this
world who are suffering and all those

who are brutally taken out of this world
and all those who die so young that
they never got a chance to live full lives

then he asks Christ to do whatever is best
when this energy that has flowed up in him
since age twenty seven when it awakened

in the great white light and a feeling he was
entering cosmic consciousness

before he pulled out of the meditation frightened
and astonished by unexpected higher consciousness experience

he ends the brief prayer with the Lord’s prayer
because he believes that prayer has protective power

and today he will post a poem on this blog that
will explain why

remembering a southern belle ex named eva

he remembers how she’d drive to his apartment
every day after she finished her work

as a social worker helping the elderly

how wonderful it was to look out of his apartment
window and see her there in her car

how wonderful she looked with her pretty brown eyes
and lovely curly black hair

he remembers how she thought he had a fixation
on blondes

he smiles inwardly remember how she had a fixation
on believing that

he remembers how compassionate she was
the most compassionate woman he ever knew

he recalls how though was quite proper and
always modestly dressed

she surprised him in ways he hadn’t imagined
which amazed and delighted him

he liked her honeysuckle southern accent
she liked mimicking his bostonian accent

that he kidded her about saying he spoke
the queen’s english

for a brief moment he languished over her
leaving him unexpectedly when she said a

lot of things were wrong with her body
and she didn’t want to burden him

despite his wanting to be there for
her no matter what

and leaving cards and flowers on her
apartment doorstep for about a week

she stuck to her resolve and what had been
a wonderful love was forever over

but now that should have been is barely a
memory after over two decades ago

his heart healed long ago and he doesn’t
pine over the loss of her

though she was the best match for him in
his entire life

A Self Assured Girlfriend and Her Boyfriend Who Threatened to Leave Her on the Jerry Springer Show

They we were on the Jerry Springer Show.
His girlfriend made a laughing stock spectacle out of him under the glaring lights and hundreds of thousands of viewers.

Surprised, embarrassed, and angry he swore they were through.
She laughed and said he always says that. And he’ll come back to me.

In front of hundreds of thousands of viewers eagerly awaiting his response sitting in their homes eating snacks and watching that insane show, he vowed that this time he meant it.

Unfazed by his vow, his girlfriend laughed again, as if his vow were a joke.

She said he always says that; he’s not going anywhere.

He smirked and said yeah sure, you’ll see, just don’t wait up for me, but it sounded like false bravado.

Despite that televised relationship show drama and the boyfriend’s vow to leave his girlfriend, I believe she was right. And the way she was so confident cracked me up.
And I got the feeling she was a lot of fun and more than worth staying with.
