The Unshakable Calm

I remember meditating for many hours
daily at meditation retreats in
serene, isolated locations.
I remember feeling like I’d attained
the desired unshakable calm,
blissed out from all the hours of
going deeper and deeper in the
depths of my ever expanding mind
only to have my illusionary
unshakable calm shattered back
in the real world with its inherent
daily stresses and strains.

And Justice for All

Justice for all doesn’t necessarily
mean equal justice for all.
Often you get the justice you can afford.
Poor man with only a public defender.
Rich man with a team of the best lawyers
money can buy.
Poor man has barely a prayer.
Rich man more equally blessed.
Moreover liars often get lighter sentences,
sweet plea deals less time in prison.
Honest defendants screwed, no plea deals,
longer prison sentences.
Justice for all unequal justice for many.

From Enemies to Allies

Two countries went to war.
They bombed the hell out of each other.
Each country encouraged their young men
to slaughter the young men of the other country.
Millions died, many civilian casualties, even children.
Cemeteries filled to capacity, so many senselessly dead.
Tears fell like tsunamis on both sides.
Just people who wanted to live peaceful lives.
Saddled with heartaches for the rest of their lives.
Years later, the countries became allies, like friends.
If only they could have gotten to that place without
all the carnage and the millions dead.

Haunted House

Hills house is haunted
of that there is no doubt.
There ghosts, a man, a
woman and a child, are
interactive there. They
chill the air, move items
around, make their dead
voices heard from time
to time, and appear and
disappear in front of
terrified people who go
into the house. All this
makes me wonder why
they hang around in an
old house. Based on NDE
reports, I would think
they’d have better lives
in a wondrous afterlife.
I have to wonder if dying
numbs the spirits of some
of the dead and leaves
them directionless and
unaware of the afterlife
beyond the limitations of
the earthly life they seem
stuck in and acting out in
ad infinitum.

Opportunistic Politicians

To me, many politicians seem more like
opportunists than patriots.
They seem to have their own egos and
interests more in mind then the betterment
of their country.
Many don’t seem to give a damn about the
people they are supposed to represent.
Many seem to get rich as public servants,
which suggests a greater emphasis on
money than on public service.
And one has to wonder where that money
comes from and how it affects what interests
they get behind and promote.
Thank God some politicians are legitimate
public servants, true patriots working for the
betterment of the country and with genuine
concerns for the people they represent.

AI Girlfriends and AI Boyfriends

Many men and women are choosing AI
girlfriends and boyfriends over
relationships with real women and men.

You may think it’s weird, but I can see it.
Human to human relationships can be
disappointing. Many don’t work out.

Many men and women are tired of that.
Many want stability and hassle free
relationships, which Al substitutes
provide.

Always supportive, never insulting you,
never growing tired of you, never
cheating on you.

I think it comes down to peaceful,
loving relationships that are more
secure than many disappointing
human to human chaotic and
heartbreaking ones.

Mysteries of the Universe

A wizened sage I met in Sedona, Ca.
Told me I could learn the mysteries of the universe
On the back of a bubble gum wrapper.
A skeptic, I guffawed. He smiled an indulgent smile
And handed me a neatly wrapped piece of
Double Bubble Cosmic Gum. I said, this is it?

He smiled and said open it and read it.
I opened it and saw nothing on the back of the wrapper
Until telepathically the words and the wisdom
Lit up my previously unbelieving mind, and I saw it all.

Then the sage told me to eat the gum
I did but after the first chew all the wisdom
Was erased from my mind, and the sage vanished
And I wondered if it had been only a dream.

But when I got back to Greensboro, NC, the
Bubble gum wrapper was still in my pants pocket
I tried to read it but it was just a bubble gum wrapper
With no wisdom left inside of it.
But I saw it all in a dream that night and woke
Up one with the universe, cosmically conscious.

If You Die and There Is Nothing

It sounds terrifying to think of dying
and that being the end of you.
Even the thought of the obliteration,
that finality, is a terrifying prospect.
No more you. No more experiences.
All of you gone permanently forever.
But if I die and there is nothing, I am
in a place where I am good with it.
No more suffering. No more pain.
No more heartaches. No more
annoyances. No more diseases.
Just an end to all the tribulations
and the potential horrors in this life.

Toy Boat

He set his toy boat into the stream.
It flowed faster than he thought it would.
He tried to catch it but he couldn’t.
Soon it was out of his sight.
And he didn’t know where it went.
It flowed and flowed and flowed.
from the stream to the river to the
ocean it flowed and flowed and flowed.
That little toy boat somehow made
its way past sharks and other big fish
that could have chomped it to bits.
And it found its way into the hands
of a happy little boy in China.

Cryptid Sightings

So many alleged sightings of cryptids
all over the USA and the world.
Could all these people claiming the
sightings be mistaken or liars?
Yet there seems to be no proof
any of these cryptids exist?
Thus they are reduced to urban
legends and conspiracy theories.
But imagine if they were all real,
and the reason no proof was
found is because they are all
elusively interdimensional.

Jenna and a Bad Boy Named Benny

Jenna took up with bad boy Benny.
She saw an iota of good in him.
She felt it was enough to save him.
She felt she could civilize him.
He said her loved her then hit her.
She suffered his violence for a while.
Each time he apologized.
But beat her again and again.
When she give up on Benny,
it was far too late to leave him.
When Jenna tried to escape,
she ended up beaten to death.

A Mere Mortal in a Cosmic Reverie

Sitting in a vibrant forest
song birds singing in the trees,
squirrels scambering on the ground,
I felt the spinning of the planet.
I heard the eternal hum of the cosmos.
I saw mysteries of which I cannot speak.
I felt a oneness with all things.
I experienced an incomparable bliss.
For a moment, I felt like a god among men.
Then the extraordinary experience passed,
and I was just another mere mortal
sitting on a rock in a teeming forest.

Physical and Mental Health Disabilities

Tim was fated with physical and mental
health disabilities, which often made me
wonder why did a nice guy like him have
to suffer with dual disabilities when I and
others didn’t have to. The unfairness
always bothered me, and I’ve wondered
why in this world some suffer far more
than others. I cannot accept the theory
that its deserved bad karma, those
suffering people getting their just due.
I cannot accept that those unfortunate
people have those inflictions for a
greater purpose. I think it’s all random,
the good or bad luck of the draw.

Science Has No Proof of an Afterlife

Science has no proof of an afterlife
and when you’re dead that may be
the complete end of your existence.
Just as it doesn’t seem like an
insect would have an afterlife, maybe
it’s the same for human beings.
People who have been dead and
come back to life have inspiring
accounts of something more, tunnel
of light, life reviews, unconditional
love, mystical experiences, angels,
heaven, peace, bliss, love, et cetera.
These may be just caused by other
factors related to the brain shutting
down, running out of oxygen and
hallucinations that cause artificial
spiritual and afterlife experiences.
At 80 years of age, I’ve come to a
place where I don’t care if there’s
nothing there when you die, if all
that was you is obliterated forever.

She Moved to Hollywood to Become an Actor

She was popular in high school
a quite pretty and studious girl.
She joined the drama club and
found her passion in her life.
After high school, she moved
to Hollywood intent on being a
movie star.
After years of trying, she got
a role in a comedy movie with
famous actors, and it seemed
her career was on its way.
But she never had a decent role
after that, and in her forties
became a secretary for an
insurance company to make
a living at a job she didn’t like.
She failed in her life’s ambition.
Deep depression set in, and
sadly, she took her life, her
dead dreams too much to bear.

Bob Boyd

science and nde commonalities

science disregards the commonalities
of peoples’ near death experiences
it alleges other factors are the cause of
all the common threads experienced
it claims oxygen deprivation causes
hallucinations and euphoric feelings
sudden neurochemical releases
of endorphins, vivid hallucinations
and dramatically altered perceptions
and spikes in brain activity can
cause intense mystical experiences
and temporal lobe activity that
might lead to out of body feelings
and encounters with divine figures
in other words when you are dead
you are dead and nothing more
according to the science skepticism
the most disappointing part of this is
maybe science is absolutely right
