An Old Woman’s Isolation

She’s an old woman now,
her life is ebbing out of her.

Those friends of her youth,
all dead or gone.

She’s all alone in the world;
no one cares about her.

She spends her days in solitude,
with no desire to go anywhere;

nowhere holds any appeal, and
she cries her waning days away.
