he sits at his computer writing this
poem spiritual energy streaming into his head
he hasn’t needed to meditate in decades
the energy always streams upward in him
as if his existence is a continuous meditation
his spiritual work now is comprised of
briefly praying for all the people in this
world who are suffering and all those
who are brutally taken out of this world
and all those who die so young that
they never got a chance to live full lives
then he asks Christ to do whatever is best
when this energy that has flowed up in him
since age twenty seven when it awakened
in the great white light and a feeling he was
entering cosmic consciousness
before he pulled out of the meditation frightened
and astonished by unexpected higher consciousness experience
he ends the brief prayer with the Lord’s prayer
because he believes that prayer has protective power
and today he will post a poem on this blog that
will explain why
