On an Art Bell’s Ghost to Ghost
broadcast, part of his old
Coast to Coast radio shows
now on YouTube
a woman wrote in about how
in her wild and crazy younger days
she was driving out of control
had been drinking alcohol
ran over old woman with her car
who appeared from behind a bus
she sprang out of her car
rushed over to the woman
said she was sorry
draped her jacket around
her, and the woman looked
into her eyes as she died
she was charged with manslaughter
sent to jail for years
she never got over
accidentally killing the old woman
many years later, living alone
she was about to kill herself
the guilt still too much too bare
as she thought about killing herself
she felt a presence behind her
that began holding her
she knew it was the gentle spirit
of the old woman
saw a flash of her face
and she felt no fear
the old woman’s spirit comforted her
with forgiveness that purged all the guilt
and sorrow out of the forlorn woman
Sometimes in this
world of suffering and sorrow
miracles like this happen
miraculous, tender mercies.
