Been listening to Art Bell’s Ghost to Ghost
many people tell their ghost experiences there
sure, some are probably make believe
but I believe most of them are genuine
some said the ghosts were benevolent
harmless, friendly ghosts, like polite guests
some people found them entertaining
amusing antics and funny manifestations
a woman claimed a female ghost in her home
protected her when she warned her
not to open her front door one night
to ignore the incessant knocking
someone with bad designs, the knocker.

It puzzles me why these friendly ghosts
would remain earthbound in homes
instead of ascending to the heavens.

In the town of Nethertown
the ghouls hold sway

highest crime rate
for a small town

in all of the USA

sightings of cryptids
many

ghosts aplenty

horrors, incomprehensible
abound

heads of humans and
animals often found

the town once a haven
for the dark arts

witches and warlocks
hung to death

now the town suffers
the aftereffects

of the smoldering dark magic

emanating from the
bodies and bones

of the dead witches and warlocks
buried under Nethertown.

The Demon Cat of Washington D.C.
big and menacing haunts the halls
of prominent federal buildings
from the Capital Building
to the White House
occasionally frightening people
according to the Demon Cat lore

it’s also claimed to sometimes
be a sign of forthcoming disasters
or impending tragedies
supposedly in 1963 a nightwatchman
saw the Demon Cat right before
president Kennedy was assassinated

whether the Demon Cat is real
of just another urban legend
I am unsure, but it’s listed as
one of the most famous ghosts
in the White House Closets,”
so perhaps some of the tales
of the Demon Cat ring true.

Think twice, lone traveler, before staying
at the ghost invested Clown Motel
in Tonopah, Nevada
situated next to a haunted cemetery
walls adorned with pictures of clowns
assortments of clown dolls on shelves
clown paraphernalia everywhere
in the rooms, clown wallpaper, clown sheets
and blankets, clown figurines
picture of dolls on the walls
the eyes of the clown dolls
seem to follow you
clown ghosts appearing
and disappearing
some guests claim to have seen
a seven-foot-tall clown poltergeist
disembodied laughter
the sounds of footsteps
with nobody there
a host of terrors
some guests have seen
maybe you’ll go there and
see nothing, lone traveler
but BEWARE.

Wearing a red dress, she wandered through
a room, headless and holding her head in her hands
then she walked through a wall
what in God’s creation made a ghost be like that?
was she beheaded in life by a crazy person
or by an insane, jealous or ex lover?

the headless woman ghost in red was described
to a waitress by her son and grandson when
they visited her in the employee section
of the Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah, Nevada
and saw that headless ghost there firsthand

Bob Boyd

Saw a gent on YouTube
exploring a little, old church
in Wales
said to be haunted

he walked passed a wooden pew
heard a creaking sound
no big deal
seemed like nothing to see

but it kept creaking
each time he walked by it

becoming a bigger deal

then he felt something
unseen touch his hair

gave him quite a scare

then the deal got bigger
the stale air inside the church
became freezing cold

and the gent felt fear
got the hell out of the church

and the door shook after
he closed it

the gent believes someone
was buried under the church
and is trapped there

but for unexplained reasons
can make things get
spooky inside the church

more unexplainable to me
is why a spirit would
linger in an old church

I don’t believe it’s
trapped there but
that’s an intriguing theory

I can’t come up with
a better one

Lord knows
I wish I could

Lord knows if
a spirit is trapped there
I wish someone
would send it to the Light.

Bob Boyd

After listening and reading so many ghost stories
of late

I’ve become 100% convinced ghosts are real
all these people alleging they’ve seen ghosts

can’t all be

liars
deluded
mentally ill
mistaken
pranksters

the numbers are too great
many of the reports seem entirely creditable
for me to believe none of them are bona fide

but what I’m grateful for
is I’ve never seen a ghost

except
maybe

in a dream.

She walks the hotel halls from room 17 to room 21
she unpacks and packs guest’s suitcases
she doesn’t like guests being in those rooms
the reason she messes with their suitcases
she can walk through doors, no problem
she’s the Grey Lady ghost of the Crown Inn
in Amersham, England, a town densely
populated with varieties of ghosts
at least seven haunt the Crown Inn
there’s a green lady ghost in Amersham too
if you ever want to get scared many times over
take a trip to Amersham and book a hotel room
the ghosts there will gladly accommodate you.

In Springfield Vermont, stands the Hartness House Inn
an elegant, looming gables mansion built in 1904
once the home of James Hartness, an inventor extraordinaire
a governor of Vermont, an aviator, an industrialist and more
in want of a quieter environment, he a built a network of tunnels
under his mansion, a subterranean sanctuary with
a library, a workshop, a study and an apartment

twenty years after Hartness died in 1934, the mansion was
converted into an inn, and the ghost of Hartness is believed
to be haunting it: strange sensations, lights flickering, rocking chairs rocking by themselves, objects fly off shelves, sounds of someone murmuring

but smart as Hartness was, if he is haunting the mansion,
why couldn’t he find his way to the Light?
or is he locked into doing what he still thinks is material world work in his subterranean, tunneled haunts?

When I lived in the Philippines, I heard of
headless priest ghosts

a frightening thought

I read during world war II the Japanese
cut off the heads of priests that became ghosts

if true, such an unconscionable thing to do

some people say it’s just an urban legend
others believe the headless priest ghosts are real

after watching many believable videos about ghosts
on Art Bell’s Ghost to Ghost series

I cannot not help but wonder if those stories
about headless priest ghosts in the Philippines are true.

Bob Boyd

Art Bell believed there were
ghosts of the living

an appearance in spirit form
of somebody you know is alive

a number of people reported
such sightings on Art Bell’s
Ghost to Ghost shows

perhaps our spirits are
embodied and sometimes
slip out while we’ve alive

instead of the intended
bodily separation when
we are dead.

Bob Boyd

Some people claim they’ve seen headless ghosts
why would a ghost appear like that?

unless a dead person lived in the vicinity where
once people lost their heads under the guillotine

or maybe it’s a metaphoric thing, like a person
who often lost his head, as in got angry, when living
losing it literally when angry in the afterlife

but I’m just kidding around here, giving you these
made up theories and hoping you never see
a spectral noggin heading toward you.

Bob Boyd

I’ve become a bit addicted to listening to Art Bell’s
Ghost to Ghost part of his Coast to Coast programs
available on YouTube

I like the scares, the uniqueness, of the spectral tales
glimpses into another dimension, thrills galore,
loads of ghosts

maybe I’m hooked on these ghost stories because
at my age I could be close to becoming one

if so, my intent is not to hang around and haunt a musty, old house
or scare living people; I’ll have better things to do

perhaps I’ll merge with the cosmos and live forever
in the eternal peace and bliss of cosmic consciousness

but if I had a choice, I’d rather be in an idyllic paradise beyond
the tragedies and tears of this impermanent world – young again
in love forever with a divinely beautiful soulmate.

Bob Boyd

Been listening to old Art Bell
Coast to Coast shows
on YouTube lately
the Ghost to Ghost ones

on those shows
I often hear Art Bell say
red eyes worry him

makes me wonder
if Art ever saw an entity
with malevolent red eyes
and freaked out
I know I’d be freaked out
if ever I saw a red-eyed entity

Art often had concerns that
maybe ghosts that appeared
in houses and other locations
said it’s sobering to consider

were trapped on the earth plane
forever

instead of moving on to
somewhere else in the afterlife

these ghosts he’s referring to
are not the residuals
imprints of a person who
died from a suicide, a murder
or a tragic accident
like a movie scene
playing over and over
the deceased not there
gone somewhere else

Art means the interactive
ghosts

a chilling in the air, sounds,
voices, touches, visions,
objects missing or moving
a ghost that seems trapped
in a particular location

it does make one wonder
why these entities appear
stuck in those locations
instead of moving on

are they too attached to
the earth plane or for
inexplicable reasons afraid
to move on?

Are they at those locations
occasionally but residing elsewhere
in the great beyond
most of the time?

I can understand why Art sees
their earthbound situations
as terrible plights

and ghosts seemingly
trapped in haunted locations
are one of the many
mysteries in this world
I cannot figure out

but right or wrong
I believe when I die
all those mysteries
will be revealed to me

and I just realized I was
writing about Art Bell
mostly in the present tense,
as if he were still living
instead of passed on

in spite of that, I feel
absolutely certain
that though Art Bell has
left this world
he is somewhere wonderful
and not a trapped ghost.

Bob Boyd

I’m always amazed at all the people
who have seen or experienced ghosts
hearing about some now on Art Bell’s
old Coast to Coast show on YouTube
Art had a lot of those ghost shows
sad he’s been dead since 2018
hope he’s not just a ghost now
hopefully he’s in a beautiful place
he and I have two things in common
both served in the US Air Force
but in my case I just endured
wasn’t cut out for military conformity
both had wives from the Philippines
his stayed with him till he died
after four years in the Philippines
mine left me a year after I brought
her to American, got materialistic
wasn’t that way in the Philippines
but in retrospect it was for the best
getting back to the reports of ghosts
I’m grateful I’ve never seen one
I’m glad I’ve never experienced one
but enjoy hearing about spooky stuff
and with all the reports of ghosts
believe there is something to it
some appear to be just impressions
not at all interactive, like a movie
some are frighteningly interactive
a chill in the air, sounds, touches
objects moving, the worst is when
one stares straight at you
your hair standing up on end
your body trembling with fear
scared of what it might do to you
the worst is when one follows
you home and you become haunted
I hope that never happens to you.

Bob Boyd

Here in America in many states
people report a young woman
hitchhiking on a highway
in the dark of night

when some kind soul
gives her a ride
she gets in the car
and acts a little off

usually she’s wearing
something like a prom dress
in variations of the allegedly
true story

she tells the driver to stop at a cemetery
gets out of the car and walks into it

as if it were the most natural thing in the world
to enter a cemetery in the dark of night
if followed, she disappears

in some tellings of this tale
sometimes a smitten young man
supposedly gets a date with her
before she gets out of the car

when he goes to her address days later
for the date, her mournful mother opens
the door and says her daughter died years ago

I don’t know what this ghost girl’s name is
but I know with talk of her appearing in many states
throughout the U S of A, she sure gets around.

Bob Boyd

There are intelligent ghosts,
and they can interact with you.

The worst is when they look at you
and whisper your name.

If that isn’t enough to freak you out,
you might feel one touching you.

They can make you feel icy fingers
or freezing breath on your body.

They can make things go missing
or move in your home.

When they’re around, the air gets cold
and follows you from room to room.

Lights in your house may mysteriously
go on and off.

My advice to you, stay away from the
haunts of ghosts and ghost tours.

You never know when an intelligent
ghost might be watching you

and decide to follow you home.

Bob Boyd

After he moved to a house next to a cemetery
he began hearing ghosts moaning in the cemetery.
When he told friends about the moaning and invited them to his house to show them the proof, none
of them heard the sounds of the ghosts.
He stopped telling others about the moaning and
wondered if they were all in his head, wondered
if he was going crazy.
But the day came when he found out he
wasn’t hearing things; he wasn’t crazy.
That day was the day he was dead, buried in the
cemetery and moaning with the rest of the ghosts.

Bob Boyd

Hills house is haunted
of that there is no doubt.
There ghosts, a man, a
woman and a child, are
interactive there. They
chill the air, move items
around, make their dead
voices heard from time
to time, and appear and
disappear in front of
terrified people who go
into the house. All this
makes me wonder why
they hang around in an
old house. Based on NDE
reports, I would think
they’d have better lives
in a wondrous afterlife.
I have to wonder if dying
numbs the spirits of some
of the dead and leaves
them directionless and
unaware of the afterlife
beyond the limitations of
the earthly life they seem
stuck in and acting out in
ad infinitum.

Bob Boyd

You decide to visit haunted houses
In the city you live in.
An exciting event in your life.
A fun night with potential thrills.
A tour for a bargain price.
Six haunted houses in all.
The first five a bust.
No ghosts. No thrills.
Number six does not disappoint.
The air chills, feels heavy.
You get the feeling something is watching you
You sense it is dangerously evil.
By now you are freaking out.
And wishing you never went on the tour.
You excuse yourself.
And get the hell out of the house.
You jump in your car and drive home,
Relieved to be safe
And out of that evil house.
At your home you undress
And change into your night clothes.
You get in bed and turn out the light.
The air in your bedroom
Gets chilled and feels heavy.
You scream louder than ever in your life
Before you pass out.
