Feral cats in the Philippines
don’t get the love cats do in the US

residing everywhere, somehow
they thrive living in the streets

it’s a sorrowful plight except when
they jump on the roofs

of the many single story houses
there bang! bang! bang!

and they startle and tick you off
in the middle of the night

in the US, we have cat hospitals
and countless pampered cats

they don’t know how good they
have it

compared to the homeless, feral cats
living in the streets of the Philippines.

Teenagers, they loved pranking
people with their toys

they loved giving people
a good scare

and their toys were
quite unique

and where they
lived there wasn’t much to do

for rambunctious teenagers
with mischievous minds

so like playing with remote control
cars and boats

they let loose their remotely
controlled toys upon planet earth

pranked the strange looking
people there

with their lifelike playthings
bigfoot, mothman, jersey devil and others.

Born into a f**ked up family
drug users and drunks
barely had a prayer in life
repeatedly beaten
often put down
a bully in grade school
a delinquent in high school
many disciplinary efforts
only hardened him
suspended and kicked out
sent to juvenile detention
ran away from home
survived on petty theft
and scrounging for food
at age twenty and one
a Mafioso wanna be
became more criminally
inclined and troublesome
mugging people in streets
robbing the stores of
small time merchants
one of them connected
died unredeemed in 1977
with a bullet in his head.

Ultimate transformation
expanded awareness
mystical illumination
the ego transcended
a sense of cosmic unity
feeling interconnected
with every star in the sky
with every blade of grass
a oneness with all beings
the universe vibrant
its essence Divine
feelings of joy, peace
and unconditional love
Cosmic Consciousness!

Ogres and gremlins
roamed inside her head
though they gave her
a sense of dread

they filled her ordinary life
with excitement and
peculiar pleasures

perhaps it was because
way back in her lineage
an obscure aunt or
grandmother
was married to one.

mysterious
extraterrestrials
origin Pleiades
star cluster
6 to 7 feet tall
long blonde hair
blue eyes
physically beautiful
fluidity of movement
resembling Scandinavians
superior intellects
psychic powers
telepathic
ethereal
peaceful
benevolent
space brothers
and sisters
alleged to be real.

The vale of tears
vallis lacrimarum
rooted in Christian doctrine
the suffering, the sorrows
the hardships, the struggles
the chronic diseases
the inevitable dying
loved ones crying
in this transitory life
beneath the high times
the ecstasies, the joys
tears constantly falling.

Elon Musk wants to put people on mars
a self-sustaining population
for “the long term survival of civilization”
I believe this would be a necessary step
a beginning of space colonization
the safety of the human species
maybe some animals too
face it, the sun won’t last forever
though too far away to worry about now
the sun eventually will burn out
a devastating cataclysmic event
based on this and other cosmic threats
or a nuclear holocaust on earth
I believe space colonization is inevitable.

insectoid beings
superior intellects
resembling
praying mantises
been described
as “nasty looking”
can shape shift
into blonde humans
said to be hostile
from the planet

factual or
fictional
I do not know
many believe
they are real
like an aerospace
unnamed source
and Linda Moulton Howe
a phenomenal
journalist
this I know
with certainty
the deeper you
look into these
extraterrestrial
matters
the curiouser
the information
becomes
and maybe as
the saying goes
the truth is
stranger than fiction.

Since I began writing poetry
about two years ago
I hear words with the ears of a poet
words I didn’t really hear before

for example

when I read the word dromadaire today
I like the way it sounded
so I decided to write a poem with that word in it

inside the body of a dromadaire
a rare nanobody dwells
according to a recent study
that rare nanobody
might treat brain disorders
Alzheimer’s and others
who would have thought
a dromadaire roaming the desert sands
could have such a priceless treasure within him.
