She Had a Way with Animals

Paula had a certain magnetism with animals.
Dogs and cats always approached her on the
streets as if she were not a stranger to them.

My dog, Bo, like her more than me despite
the fact that I was the one who fed and housed
Bo and rescued him from a dog pound.

But the most amazing example of Paula’s
charisma with animals was when we went
camping in upstate New York and a family
of deer gathered around her as if she were
one of them.

But ran off when they saw me, and I don’t
even hunt. Foolish as it was, I felt a little
jealous of Paul’s gift with animals that
day.

But I was as drawn to her as the animals were
and chided myself for being jealous of Paula’s
incredible charisma with them.
