I’m re-reading Bukowski. I like
how he doesn’t fill his poems
with too many flowery words,
and he usually writes with
what was once called plain
English that is so pleasing to
read, though I can appreciate
that often the flowery words
skillfully applied are high art.
Getting back to Bukowski, I
can see how some people
could see his poems as crude.
And his lifestyle wouldn’t have
worked for me, but damn! he
was one hell of a poet.
