Never. Never. In my wildest imaginations
did I expect to hear of a duck army in China.
The thought of it kinda quacks me up. And
I wonder if they wear the People’s Liberation
Army Type 21 combat training uniform.
I wonder where they take their basic training,
and if any of them fly the Chengdu J-20,
twin-engine stealth fighters. Or are they just
ground troops? And I wonder if they take
any casualties or prisoners in their locust
wars. And do they have special wing salutes
and web-footed marching drills? And like
in the movies, do they make any famous and
stirring speeches before they charge into battle?
I just hope the ravages of war don’t make
them go bat crap quackers. And I pray they defeat
the armies of crop-destroying locusts they fight.
