Entirely Expendable

Throw those faceless young men
into a pointless war
and see what happens
with our flesh and blood
experiment.

It’s really all a game to see if
we can change a little country’s
politics to one more palatable to us.

And so what if we lose thousands
to young and horrible deaths,
they’re just faceless and
inconsequential to us
and entirely expendable.

Marriage Death Knell

She always dressed so nicely
when she was young and free
and had a beautiful figure
and a prettier than average face.

After she got married, she
no longer dressed as nicely
and put on 40lbs of weight
and lost her looks.

Her husband who looked happy
when they first got married
walked around looking so sad.

I could see their marriage
had its obvious death knell
and wasn’t surprised when
he left her for a woman who
dressed nicely and had
a beautiful figure and
a prettier than average face.

The Secrets of Plants

I remember a book about plants
and their so-called secret lives.
I wondered what secrets they
had. Any indiscretions or lies?
Any rebels or saints among
them? Do some lead criminal
lives stealing or killing other
plants? Besides silently talking
to one another, what other
secrets do they hide within
their quiet petals. And do they
have an overlord in the sky
that they fervently pray to
and ask for forgiveness too?
I guess I should read that
old book of secrets and see.

Demons

She said she saw demons
when she was clinically dead
for about ten minutes that
seemed like a hellish eternity
of tortures and torments
she had called herself a
sex worker before that
came back to life and knew
she’d been a prostitute
she said Jesus saved her
from the demons and hell
gave her a second chance
she became an evangelist
after that and saved souls
when she died at age 77
the angels came and
flew her up to heaven.

He Wanted To Be a Cowboy

At age six he wanted to be a cowboy
had a toy holster and a cowboy gun
and a big ten-gallon cowboy hat
watched a ton of cowboy movies
sang all the cowboy songs he heard
wanted to die with his boots on
if he ever had to die in a shootout

when he grew older and discovered
he had a talent for singing songs
he became a country music star
and achieved his cowboy dreams
in that kind of country music way.

Flush with Cash

He used to have a
high paying job
at thirty years of age
had loads of money
to blow on many things
blew it all on alcohol
and on many drugs
got hooked on those
destructive habits
eventually on fentanyl
now he lives and sleeps
on Kensington Avenue
and he hasn’t got long
he’ll die there before
he sees age thirty-five.

His Tears and Beer

He gets up each morning
peers out his window
to see what kind of day
he faces all over again
It’s overcast and rainy
and he’s still all alone
since his wife passed on
in an auto accident on
a similar overcast day
He starts his morning
in sadness and despair
with his first can of beer
the first of many, and
he’ll be drunk as usual
in his tears and beer

Evil Rag Doll

She found the rag doll
in a second hand store.
she bought it and took it home
because it harkened back to
the happiness of her childhood.

She kept it in a chair by her bed
and her bedroom got an eerie vibe.
At first she couldn’t feel it.
Then the nightmares began.

Hell and demons, tortures and hell fires
Night hags and incubi
plagued her once sweet dreams.

A week later, she died in her bed
from a spontaneous combustion,
her body burned to smoking ashes.

The rag doll was found sitting in
the chair with a sinister smile
on its amused cloth face.

A Luxurious Life in 1938

She lived
a luxurious life
born into it
back in 1918
beautiful looks
high status
and wealth in
old Germany

until 1338
the night
hate rose
glass
shattered
in stores

her people
attacked
by jew hating
monsters
who eventually
hauled her off
and confiscated
her wealth and
her treasures

and sent her
on a train
to a godawful
death in a
hell camp
named
Auschwitz
