It was great to have had a girlfriend
until he realized she dominated all his time
and always nitpicked and nagged him
and seemed to thrive on arguing with him.

He thought he was in love with her
until he realized love wasn’t supposed
to lead to unending arguments and ongoing turmoil.
She must have been thinking the same.
She left him after a chaotic year.

She was disappointed when he didn’t beg her to stay.
He didn’t want her anymore anyway.
When she left, he was relieved,
His peace and harmony restored.
And he’s been on a break from love
for over ten years and he’s living a tranquil life.

He offed himself on a Monday
She had said she’d be there for him,
never leave him no matter what.
She said she’d love him forever.
He was her only one.
Until he had a massive heart attack,
and his business went bust,
and all the money
and all her perks
were gone.

She didn’t shed a single tear
when she heard he died,
but cashed in on the insurance policy
that he failed to take her off.
She found another rich sucker
to leech off
and love forever
unless he went broke
and she lost all her perks.
