What’s the point of people living and dying?
Is it to prod them to seek an afterlife paradise,
and failing that prodding sent to a hell?

Is it a one shot deal, done and dead, with the hope
of heaven or a hopeless, eternal damnation?

Or do they keep coming back on the wheel of
transmigration until they spiritually evolve enough
to attain an eternal bliss consciousness?

Or is it all a pointless drama with the ending
of people into the grave and nothingness,
an obliteration of what they had been?

Imagine if in ancient times a religion were
conjured up, believed into being.

Imagine if a bird god was the god of that
conjured up religion.

Imagine if the real God took pity
on the misguided conjurers

and mercifully imbued himself
into the imagined bird god

for the sake and salvation of the
people and the conjurers.

Birds fell dead from the sky.
Animals dropped dead on the ground.
Humans expired in the streets and in homes.
An enemy’s massive chemical attack,
unprovoked and unseen coming,
spread over the entire country,
instant and total annihilation,
a war won by insidious means.
