yet sometimes
in vulnerable
moments
my heart
still pines for it

that need
that desire

must be baked
deep into my DNA

and impossible to
completely rid
myself of

sometimes I even
have foolish
thoughts about it

when that need
imposes itself
upon me

and I imagine
finding the
perfect love
the eternal
soulmate

in the everlasting
afterlife
