He was a mailman most of his life.
Retired now. He misses his work life,
the people he met, Chrismas gifts
some gave him, even the dogs that
barked at him. He misses his wife too.
She left him years ago. Irreconcilable
Differences. He’s forgotten about
when things were bad. He just recalls
the good times, the sweet nights in
bed with her that he hasn’t had with
another woman since she left. She
died a few months ago. He prays to
God he’ll meet her again in the afterlife,
marry her there, and love her forever.
