When Lisa Turned 31 Unmarried

Lisa had tried the dating apps,
never met the right guy.
After texting many guys and
meeting some,
she never had any success.
She had a few boyfriends,
didn’t work out.
For some reason, at age 31
she couldn’t suffer not having
become married.
I guess she went little crazy,
or maybe she got too depressed,
when she hung herself to death
in her bedroom closet.

A Woman Who Camped by Herself

She always camped by herself,
liked the independence.
She didn’t fear any trouble,
trouble only happened to others.
Unwisely, she announced
locations where she went camping
in YouTube videos weekly.
A predator who watched her videos
snuck into her tent one night.
But luck was with her.
A pitbull her brother bought her
scared the predator away.

Viv Always Said She Was Sticking It to the Man

I knew a wild woman named Viv
who always said she was sticking it to the man.
She liked breaking parking meters with sledge hammers.
She busted machines that you had to pay money
to get stuff out of.
She never paid income taxes, always got jobs that
paid under the table.
She rarely paid any attention to speed limits,
said her personal best was a buck and a quarter.
She stuck it too much to the man when she
robbed a bank and got caught.
Now the man is sticking it to her in a court where
she just got sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.

The Best Friend You Ever Had

The best friend you ever had

is always there for you
has been with you like forever
never let you down
never put you down
never a fair weather friend
with you even in stormy weather
loves you like no other

that best friend is you

He Told Her She Looked Good for Her Age

Melvin, age 50, told a female friend of his,
Gloria, age 60, she looked good for her age.
Instead of appreciating the complement
Gloria became pissed and raged.
She called Melvin a son of a bitch.
Melvin tried to convince Gloria that
he only meant to compliment her.
Gloria became psycho crazy, pulled a
pistol out of her purse, and shot Melvin.
Melvin bled out on the floor and
a wild-eyed Gloria ran for the door.
That was back in 2004, and the cops
still haven’t found a trace of Gloria,
even though she’s living on her
Social Security somewhere in Mexico.

I Admire People Who Choose to Live Without Cars

I have thought about trying to live without
a car many times.
But the inconvenience always outweighs
the convenience of having a car.
Now that I am older and see doctors
a car guarantees I’ll make appoments.
A tax cab might or might not provide that
same guarantee based on my experience.
And I shudder at the cost of having a taxi
wait for me while I grocery shop.
And I worry about being like a shut in
if I had my groceries delivered.
So I’m still not car free like the many
I admire because they can pull it off.

Death Is Coming for Him

His Days Grow Shorter.
Time passes faster.
Death is coming for him soon
because of his advanced age.
But he’s lived long enough
to not really be concerned.
And he sees in dying
the entry into a greater life
than the life of the living.

When She Learned She Had Alzheimer’s

When an elderly woman was diagnosed
with Alzheimer’s, the shock of it nearly
gave her a heart attack.
She had expected she had something wrong
with her mind.
But she hoped doctors would find a cure for it.
When she found out it was Alzheimer’s, and
no cure existed for it,
she decided to end her life by walking into
the deep water of a pond and drowning to death.
I can understand that and were I her, I’d feel
the same way, though I can’t say I’d end my life.

20 Women Who Took Their Own Lives

Somehow, a video about 20 women
who took their own lives popped up
on my YouTube front page.
Most of them were under 40, some
under 30; so tragic, so sad.
A few were elderly; one had been
diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
Practically all of them suffered from
severe depression, and I have to
wonder why, in God’s name,
many people are afflicted with that.
I hope all of them went to a place
where their depression, sorrows,
and heartaches healed forever—
a heavenly place where peace and
happiness were theirs forever.

Tommy Was a Terror in High School

Tommy was a terror in high school,
got kicked out many times.
He got in fights even more times.
But then he met Shelia and
miraculously he did a 180.
He started getting good grades
in school, became well behaved.
But when Shelia cheated on him
and shattered his young heart,
he became a terror again and
dropped out of high school.
He was so broken he got into
drugs and became an addict.
OD on Christmas eve and died
on Christmas morning.
RIP Tommy.

She Never Lacked for Romantic Love

Myrna never had any trouble attracting men.
A single look and they were hers.
It was as if she could put spells on them to
make them instantly fall in love with her.
And she loved falling in love over and over.
So, she consciously or unconsciously always
sabotaged her romantic relationships.

She never stayed with a man for more than a
few years, but she had a hell of a life with
the many varieties of men she met and loved.
Perhaps she was a genius of love who never
stayed with one man long enough to get bored
and perpetually had exciting, passionate love.

Oh How I Wanted to Be With That Dream Woman

Dream Woman

That look, that look, oh that look.
I wanted it to last forever, and I
wanted to get to know her so badly.
But the dream had to end before
that could happen.

Those eyes, those eyes, oh those
beautiful blue eyes. She held them
on me, and I felt ecstatic, but oh no,
the dream had to end before I could
even talk to her.

I must be suffering from the lack of
a woman in my life, despite my not
seeking one, and I would have died
for that dream woman if I could have
been with her in the dream world

Oh my God that look, that look, that
look, those eyes, those eyes, those
beautiful blue eyes.

She Hated Black People

She was raised in a family
that hated black people
just because they looked
different.

She grew up with her
parents’ bias and began
to pass the unjustifired hate
on to her children.

But, mercifully, one day
a compassionate black woman
saved her son from drowning,
which opened her eyes to the
goodness in many of that race.

Thereafter she altered her thinking
and acceptance of people not of
her race.

And the years of hate drained out
of her, replaced with acceptance
and love, which she passed on
to her children.

Two Beautiful Swans But Only for a Moment

I see two beautiful swans floating in a pond,
like soulmate birds together forever.
They look so sublime, and how beautiful
they would look in a painting.
It’s all so grand until a duck with her little
ducklings appears, and the swans begin
attacking the mother duck and her babies.
And the beautiful swans become uglier
than the ugly duckling and so predatory.
I wade into the water, distract the swans,
as they begin attacking me.
But at least the ducks get away, and I
stave off the vicious swans with my cane.

The Old Mans Body

His body gets weaker, stiffer,
rising from a chair without using the armrest
takes more effort.
Sometimes he experiences soreness in
his aging legs upon waking,
and his walking is bit more labored.
He feels like its pre rigor mortis creeping in,
signaling his impending demise.
As he wakes more from the sleeping world,
the weakness, stiffness and soreness lessen.
And he’s grateful for having lived a long life.

A Curious Rabbit

I see a rabbit outside my apartment
in the dark at night.
He stares at me, and for a moment
I think he’s not going to fear me.
I speak to him softly, and I move
slowly so not to scare him.
Just when I think I have befriended
him, he dashes away.
I think to myself maybe the rabbit
and I will be friends another day.

It Used to Be A Peaceful City

The heedless government allowed
hundreds of thousands to sneak in
it’s once peaceful city.
They were unvetted, military age men
who didn’t share the country’s values,
who didn’t respect their women or
their laws.
As a result, crime rose, shoplifting,
pickpocketing, rapes, knife attacks.
Now the city is an unsafe, shrinking
hellscape people are fleeing from.

Briefly Loved Amy Wasserman

I feel in love with
Amy Wasserman
at first sight

She had
peach-colored skin
golden brown eyes
honey brown hair
a comely figure
a beautiful face
the sweetest voice

I fell out of love
with her at
second sight

she had too many
complaints
became way
too annoying
frayed my nerves
repeatedly

we didn’t
have a damn thing
in common.

A Lonely Old Romantic

An old melancholic romantic
sits alone in an apartment
listening to an old love song
captured by the song’s lyrics
he pines for one last love
before he dies and is buried
never finding that final love
his lifeless body in a coffin
his last tears in his eyes

Hidden Horror in a Soundless Forest

He’s hiking alone in a forest
and everything becomes quiet.
He senses imminent danger in
the sudden hush.
His pulse quickens, his heart
pounds faster.
He decides to hike back to
his car on the edge of the park
to escape the unseen horror.
He sees the air vibrating all
around him, his heart stops,
as he’s sucked into a vortex
Where he blacks out and
never wakes up.
He’s now a 411 statistic,
and has never been found.
